The BAE Systems Joint Expeditionary Forensics Program is seeking a qualified applicant to come aboard as an experienced Latent Print Technician to perform specialized technical work in the field of high volume latent print processing in deployed forensic facilities in Iraq and Afghanistan. Responsibilities include determining best methods for developing, enhancing and preserving latent prints on porous and non-porous items; identify and label latent prints of value based on sufficient quality and quantity of friction ridge detail; imaging developed prints via digital photography and scanning techniques; enhancing latent fingerprints by using chemical enhancements such as dyes, lasers, alternate light sources, and light scan systems; maintaining detailed notes regarding the processes conducted and preparing reports of said procedures; utilizing software applications for the processing and enhancement of digital images; and other duties as required. The Latent Print Technician will work under the general supervision of a qualified Latent Print Examiner.
Deployments are to a US or NATO-controlled military base and do not require travel outside of the wire. During time of deployment, substantial amounts of additional compensation will be added to base salary, and lodging and food will be provided.
Required Skills
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree coupled with at least 2 years of experience; an Associate's degree coupled with 4 years of related experience; or a high school diploma coupled with 6 years of related experience. A minimum of 2 years experience must be in a law enforcement or forensic environment processing latent prints. Ability to obtain / maintain a Secret clearance. Able to deploy overseas for 6 month to 1 year. Meet contractual requirements associated with the Minimal Standard of Fitness for Deployment. Proficient in MS Office applications and experienced utilizing Adobe Photoshop. Experience conducting training and instruction on the collection, preservation, and processing of material for latent prints.
