Overseas Latent Print Examiner
Several Latent Print Examiners are being sought for employment as civilian contractors supporting US military activity on-base in Iraq and Afghanistan. CLPEs trained to competency in a state or federal ASCLD/LAB accredited laboratory, with recent Latent Print Examiner employment experience, are preferred.
Latent Print Examiners perform technical and analytical tasks in the documentation, collection, preservation, and processing of latent prints; scientifically assesses materials of evidentiary value to determine the best methodology for developing, enhancing and preserving latent prints; and analyzes, compares and evaluates known and latent prints to determine positive identification or non-identification of the friction ridge detail. Knowledge of AFIS database operations and exposure to Universal Latent Workstation (ULW) preferred but not required.
Salary
Salary for well-qualified applicants is $108,000 to $158,400 annually, depending on the number of contract months. Free food, lodging, and transportation are included.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Process various types of evidence for latent prints.
- Enhance visible latent prints.
- Identify and label latent prints of value on evidence to be photographed.
- Compare latent prints to known impressions.
- Determine the identification or non-identification of latent prints to known impressions.
- Verify the identification or non-identification of latent prints to known impressions.
- Prepare detailed reports on processes performed and results.
- Train personnel in the area of latent prints.
- Maintain and document the chain of custody of evidence.
- Prepare detailed reports on processes performed and results.

- Collect and preserve possible DNA evidence.
Requirements
- Must be a highly qualified latent print examiner.
- Provided expert testimony in court.
- Encouraged to have, or, within one year of eligibility, IAI certification as an LPE.
- Be able to successfully pass proficiency testing prior to and periodically during employment with the company.
- Must have the ability to effectively use proper scientific methodology to match latent and known prints.
- Proficient in processing porous and non-porous items for latent prints.
- Experience processing evidence with chemicals in a laboratory setting.
- Proficient in obtaining known inked prints and major case prints.
- Possess the ability to teach classes and brief information pertaining to latent prints.
- Possess the ability to teach classes and brief information pertaining to processing of materials for latent prints.
- Must be able to work well in a team environment.
- Organizational skills a must.
- Physically able and willing to rotationally deploy to either Iraq or Afghanistan a minimum of six months a year.
- Able to obtain a US secret clearance and US Passport.
- Must attend pre-deployment training.
