On behalf of the 6,800 members of the International Association for Identification (IAI), I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to our website. As the largest and oldest forensic organization founded in 1915, we have through our many members established forty two divisions worldwide. Please take the time to investigate our website along with its numerous links to determine what may be of particular interest to you. While you browse our site, explore the benefits of membership in this fine professional Association. Students will also find memberships tailored to their needs. In addition, you will find several training opportunities in the various forensic disciplines along with information on our certification programs. Currently, we offer seven certification programs in the areas of Latent Print, Bloodstain Pattern Analysis, Crime Scene Investigation, Footwear Examination, Forensic Art, Forensic Photography/Electronic Imaging, and Tenprint. Our job listings contain postings of some of the most current positions available in various forensic fields. As you view our Publications, you’ll discover the many resources to be had including all of the back issues of the Journal of Forensic Identification and its predecessors Identification News and Sparks from the Anvil available on CD-ROM. Information concerning our Annual IAI International Educational Conference can also be found on our site. Before you leave our website consider joining us in Louisville, Kentucky August 16-22, 2008 for the IAI’s 93rd International Educational Conference, which promises to include some of the latest developments in forensic science presented through informative lectures and workshops.
The IAI is committed to six objectives, which can be sited in our Constitution. In brief, to associate persons in the forensic science profession, keep them up to date and informed, advance the relevant sciences, encourage research, provide training, education, and to the dissemination of this information through its publications thereby fostering a relationship amongst forensic practitioners worldwide.
